The greatest line in the 28 year history of the Buffalo Sabres dominated the National Hockey League from 1972-1979. Gilbert Perreault, Rick Martin and Rene Robert, all French Canadians, were labeled the "French Connection," after the 1971 movie of the same name. Perreault, the center, is a native of Victoriaville, Quebec: Martin, the left wing, from Verdun, Quebec and Robert, the right wing, from Trois Rivieres, Quebec. As a trio, The French Connection wore the blue and gold proudly as they were clearly the NHL's premiere line of their decade.
